Real Wedding- An Intimate Lodge Style Affair

We love intimate weddings and we cannot lie. Early spring during our initial consultation with the bride, we were able to capture a very clear vision of how she imagined her wedding day. She wanted her and as well as her fiancés wedding day to reflect their true purpose for getting married and to share this meaningful occasion with their closest friends and relatives. “I want my wedding day to feel personal.”

This wedding of fifty guest was filled with a charming ceremony full of joyful tears and heartwarming personal vows by both the bride and groom. Subsequently, a romantic and delectable dinner party was held for guest in an intimate setting filled with estate tables, floral details, and romantic candlelight, Later, guest were entertained with a diversified cultural party vibe that kept their tribe of loving family and friends on the dance floor all night.

It was our intent to ensure this lovely couples wedding day vision was fully executed and with the partnership of some wonderful and talented vendors, the bride left saying- “my day was magical.”

Love Hangover

The words "I think I found my wedding planner" are the words that the former Imani Brodie spoke in our initial consultation after only 45 minutes of talking.  She and her fiancé walked in my office a week after getting engaged with hopes of getting married six months later.  I never take the journey of planning a wedding lightly.  Actually, it's something I take to heart.  For me, it's more than about planning one of the most special day of a couples lives but it's also about forming a lasting relationship- and that is just what happen on this short planning ride.

Spunky, energetic, courageous, compassionate, trustworthy, confident, smart, faith driven and extremely humble are just a few words that come to mind when I think about Imani.  Brave, bold, fearless, decisive,  adventurous, caring, and loving are what I think of when it comes to Chris.  After meeting them, it won't take long for you feel and see their love.  The common respect they have for each others thoughts, opinions, and feelings are very evident.  One key thing I picked up early is the way they make each other smile, naturally.

Along the journey, I got to know Imani and Chris personally.  Their likes and dislikes.  What made them tick and what made them give me the side eye.  Knowing these things helped in creating a day that Imani and Chris will never forget.  Where some ladies come to us knowing just what they want, Imani had a different approach.  She knew what she liked but was very trustworthy in letting myself and the designers take full rein of her wedding day.  Don't get me wrong, she would tell us quickly what she did and didn't like but was extremely easy to work with in creating her dream day.  She said it a million times- "Crystal, I trust whatever you, Ericka, and Jonathan put together for us.  I know it will be fabulous."

I'd like to take you on a visual wedding day journey with me.  A day that Chris and Imani Surratt will never forget.

The grooms grandmother was 97 years old and wasn't able to make it to the wedding.  We had the privilege of going to visit "Granny" prior to the wedding day so that she could record a special message to her grandson and future granddaughter.  Just in the short period of time we met with her, we could see why she was loved by so many.  Two weeks after the wedding, Granny passed away.  We are so happy Chris and Imani have this video to cherish for a lifetime.  What a beautiful long life to have lived. Her words in the video to Chris and Imani that stood out the most were "always love and be good to each other."

As Imani was walking through the hotel to take her place down the aisle, out of nowhere a rainstorm came, sending her guest to take cover and heavy winds to blow decor all over the ceremony location.  Imani watched it all unfold from an upstairs window.  Most brides would have had a total meltdown but not our Imani.  She looked at her father and said, "shot time."  She and her father waited the storm out in the hotel bar conversing with hotel guest and having a good time.  See why we love her……

When talking to Imani about the storm that came out of nowhere, she responded,  "That was just God answering my prayers.  I told Him last night I didn't want the sun to be too bright so I could look into Chris' eyes…."  Well, He answered her prayers and the ceremony proceeded as planned.

It's Time to Buy "The Ring"

So it's engagement season and you think it's the right time to make one of the biggest purchases known to mankind.  It's time to buy, "THE DIAMOND."  Not just any diamond, but, "THE ONE."

You'd like to think that when it comes to your future fiance, you totally understand their personal style. But if you're even the slightest bit hesitant about what type of ring to buy, you'll naturally want to ask for shopping assistance—a smart move..... depending on the person you ask. Here are our suggestions here at Fabulously Created Events.

First start with trusting:

You

So often, men don't realize how well they know their significant other already.  When falling in love, it's typically the small stuff that has captivated your heart therefore giving you a keen sense into what she likes and dislikes.  Trust you!  When you see it, you will know it and you will be excited you've picked something that she will cherish for a lifetime.

However,  there is absolutely no reason why you can't have some guidance along the way.  The below people might be good resources when shopping.

Her Sister

If your girlfriend is close to her sister, she will typically know her taste.  A sister is also more likely to keep the news to herself.  She also will be able to discreetly dig for clues from your girlfriend if you desire.

Your Best Married Buddy

He has done this before so he will be able to guide you and give you the support you want and need.  While he may not know her style or ring desires, having a close "friend" by your side to support you in this important decision isn't a bad idea.  P.S.  Pick the buddy that actually likes his wife and not the one that will be over your ear in the jewelry store saying "dude.... this is crazy.... don't do it....believe me......"
Pick the friend that values marriage; the one you actually look up to and admire his relationship with his wife.

Her Mom

This can be tricky!  Mom does know best BUT if you choose to take mom ring shopping with you, be prepared to pop the question soon; we mean real soon.  Mom's are emotionally attached to their children by nature and you don't want the risk of them slipping and ruining the proposal.  However, like the sister- mom will have great insight into what her daughter will like and will not mind telling you her opinion at all.

Another great resource:

Social Media

If your girlfriend is like 80% of women, she has been planning the big day in that head of hers, FOREVER!  No, she is not crazy, women just naturally fall in love with "love." If you don't want to ask anyone around you for guidance, she just might have a Pinterest board with all kind of wedding ideas laying around.  Somewhere embedded between purses, shoes, and crock pot recipes are diamonds.  CHA-CHING- you just hit the lottery!  Think of it as her way of telling you but not telling you....

Lastly, it's perfectly fine to ask:

Your Significant Other

Okay, so the ring may not be a surprise, but you can still make the proposal one. If you know your partner wants to have input into picking out rings, give her the pleasure of doing so. Plus, it totally eliminates the stress if you're worried over potentially getting the wrong ring style.  However, when going ring shopping with your mate DO NOT hold your heart like Fred Sanford and declare a heart attack is coming your way at the price of rings.  You never want to make her feel like she isn't worth every dime.  Remember, you are looking to get an idea.  When you go back to make your final decision and purchase, that's the time to discuss pricing with the sales attendant, scream bloody murder, and then negotiate where appropriate.

We hope these few tips help you during this engagement season or whenever you choose to pop the question.  If you get stuck with decision making or have questions, reach out to us at Fabulously Created Events.  www.fabcreatedevents.com.  We would love to help you out!  Until next time, stay fabulous!

The Key to the Bentley

Proverbs 18:22 says, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing."  When Andre Bentley found Kendra Vinson, he indeed found his lifetime treasure.

Over a year ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Kendra and Andre as well as Kendra's parents as they were in search of a wedding planner.  After Kendra GRILLED me (lol) at the planning consultation meeting with her big book of wedding questions, I was thrilled to hear they had selected FC Events to plan their big day.

I meet with a lot of couples and each carry their own special uniqueness.  Kendra and Andre were no different.  They knew what they wanted, they trusted we could make it happen, and we had an absolute blast in the process!  As a planner, I seek the couple that will allow me to do just what I love to do; be creative and plan with vision in mind.

The love and respect these two have for one another is undeniable.  Their love and outlook on life is contagious and we were grateful to have been a part of such a memorable moment in their life.  We thank Kendra, Andre, and their families for entrusting FC Events with such a precious event and look forward to seeing this couples love blossom for a lifetime.  Continue to keep your love as fabulous as both of you are!

Thank you to all the vendors who played a major part in making Kendra and Andre's wedding day a success.
