The Way It Was Supposed To Be

I remember the phone call like it was yesterday.  A very upbeat bride on the other end of phone expressing her need for a planner who would help her turn her backyard into the wedding venue of her dreams.  Without hesitation, I told her I was up for the challenge.  She said, "what you have provided sounds great but I need to talk to my fiancĂ© first."  Later that night, the same vibrant bride calls me back; this time with her fiancĂ© on speaker phone and says, "So, I can already tell, I like you BUT I have one question that might sound really crazy but I really need to ask you."  Internally, I thought - O.M.G, what does she want to ask that she sounds so reluctant to ask????  She says, "so, I'm somewhat Jewish-would that be a problem?"  After I let out a sigh of relief that her question didn't totally plummet the consultation- I responded "No honey, I'm up for that challenge too-let's do this!

For a year, we planned the most detailed event of my wedding career.  Michelle and Justin totally transformed every piece of their backyard (and I do mean every piece) to a beautiful canvas for me to execute a night wedding under thousands of hanging lights with beautifully equipped tents and a layout to die for.  We were soooooo ready!

On September 28th, the forecast started not to look so good.  It actually started looking like, shall I say, a hurricane might just come our way (ugh).  WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?  Many nights of staying up watching EVERY forecast available, it was clear; we had to put a plan B into action.

In 72 hours, we re-planned a year worth of plans.  Yes, I say "we."  The FC Events team and ALL the wonderful vendors jumped in like one big family and made Michelle and Justin's wedding one of a kind.  When the 'bride and groom looked at me and said,  "Its perfect, this is the way it was supposed to be." As a planner, I let out a huge sigh of relief and knew it was all worth it.

To know Michelle and Justin are to fall in love with their love.  To watch them smile from ear to ear all evening and dance the night away was magical.  From Michelle's brother marrying her on her wedding day, to their dog Max confessing he stole the rings at the ceremony, to a dynamic toast from the father of the bride reminiscing about his little girl, to the DJ keeping the dance floor jumping all night, to amazing italian action stations filled with ravioli and cannoli's, and lastly sending guest off with a duel pack of North Carolina's very best Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. The night was BANANAS!

I tell my clients all the time, how appreciative I am for them allowing me to be a part of their special day, but this time it's a little different.  Michelle and Justin, thank you for TRUSTING me with plan A and plan B.  It's people like you that help me become better at my passion and stretch me in places I didn't even think were possible.  You will forever be a big piece of the FC Events family.  Stay fabulous and in 20 years, let's plan a vow renewal in that beautiful backyard of yours!

A HUGE shout out to the amazing vendors and FC Team who executed flawlessly!
